About Us
We started this because too many people sign settlement agreements they don't fully understand. Not because they're careless, but because the process is confusing, the deadline feels tight, and finding a solicitor from scratch is one more thing to deal with during an already stressful time.
Why we started
Our founder set this site up after going through redundancy themselves and being handed a settlement agreement with no real idea what to do next. Whether the offer was fair, what the legal jargon actually meant, or even who to ask. Like most people in that position, they weren't going to spend hours researching employment law while also worrying about their next job. What they needed was a straightforward, honest place to start, and someone to point them to the right independent advice without a sales pitch attached. That gap is exactly what SettlementAgreementGuide.co.uk was built to fill. For anyone else finding a settlement agreement on their desk and not knowing where to turn.
What we do
We pass your settlement agreement straight to an independent, SRA-regulated employment solicitor. We don't comment on or interpret it ourselves, since that would risk straying into legal advice, which only a solicitor can give. We introduce you to that solicitor for the formal legal advice and sign-off your agreement needs to be valid. We are not a law firm and we don't give legal advice ourselves. Seeing our role clearly is part of how we keep it honest.
Who we work with
We work with a panel of independent employment solicitors across England and Wales, all currently regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). We check this regularly, and we only introduce firms we'd be comfortable recommending to a friend.
How we make money
Full detail is on our how we're paid page, but in short: we receive a referral fee from the solicitor firm, funded by the legal fee contribution your employer already pays as part of your agreement. It costs you nothing.
